Rowan is a former federal fisheries biologist and current aquatic habitat and climate specialist. He has worked for over three decades to improve land and water management to ensure protection of streams, rivers, wetlands and wild fish. He has served on several national and regional task force efforts and working groups dealing with climate change impacts to freshwater and marine ecosystems. He was a member of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's (USFWS) Region 1 Ecological Services Division, Office of Technical Support, and served on their Regional Climate Board and Science Team. Prior to joining USFWS, he was a member of the National Marine Fisheries Service's Office of Environmental Policy, a Habitat Branch senior biologist, and their lead Federal Watershed Analysis Coordination Team representative. Before obtaining his Master's degree in Fisheries and Wildland Resource Science at U.C. Berkeley, he was a Writer-Editor for the Sierra Club's Alaska Report, personal assistant to a former Sierra Club President, and a Publicity Writer/Intern for Friends of the River.
